South Carolina’s Great Lakes and Inland Sea

Lake Marion

At Deercreek At Wyboo, great golf is only part of the story. Just a stone’s throw away from Deercreek is the big water of Lake Marion, South Carolina’s largest lake. Named after Revolutionary War hero General Francis Marion, Lake Marion covers land in four counties and boasts 511 miles of shoreline. Often referred to as South Carolina’s “Inland Sea,” Lake Marion is one of the 50th largest lakes in the country and is a popular destination for water enthusiasts, nature lovers and fishermen from across the nation. Lake Marion and adjoining Lake Moultrie are part of the Santee Cooper Lakes System and together these legendary lakes are known as South Carolina’s “Great Lakes.”
